Accommodation
Temporary and Long Stay Accommodation
Expatriates will typically need "long stay" accommodation in Australia on a number of occasions, including on final return when some time may pass before they are able to re-enter an existing home or lease/buy a new home. While expatriates without chidren may feel comfortable in a hotel, it is usually only a short term proposition for families. Larger, serviced apartments or townhouses are usually preferred for any stay of more than a few days.
The three organisation listed below provide serviced accommodation in a range of centers throughout Australia. They are not the only providers, and we intend to develop this section quite significantly to provide some added choice in this area; but they are well established providers to the corporate sector. This, together with some personal experience, leads us to suggest them with some confidence:
Corporate Housing operates on a difference basis to the other providers; it has a range of individual residential properties in the cities covered - and you may choose between serviced, or non-serviced, accommodation.
We would have one particular word of advice regarding selection of an apartment and that relates to location. Serviced apartments are often located in very busy, noisy, commercial areas and while this is often ideal for business travellers it is usually not the case for families - so be very particular about the location of any apartment you choose. We would suggest that a good mapping tool such as Google Maps is used to assess whether the location is appropriate.
We would welcome comments on the quality, value and service offered by the providers above, and any other providers that should be included, via our Contact page.
